Once Bright and Marvellous
Once Bright and Marvellous
What happened to that happy girl
The one I used to see
She’d smile at me and skip along
So grateful and so free
Positive, her disposition
A joy to be around
Intoxicated by her spirit
A pleasure always found
As time went on and she grew older
Her joy became deflated
Some bad mistakes, experience
She did some things she hated
Her countenance, her joyfulness
Soon withered deep inside
Replaced by negativity
From this she couldn’t hide
Still she’d smile and try to be
The girl that she once was
But thoughts would drag her back inside
And this was all because…
She’d lost herself in contemplation
Controlling all she was
The fire gone, now embers left
She stopped fighting the cause
The cheerlessness, the dreary days
Once bright and marvellous
Just one thought had multiplied
Her joy became as dust
THE END
